Te Nikau Retreat
BRANDING SCOPE
Nestled in the native bush and close to the magnificent coastline of Punakaiki is Te Nikau Retreat. A small backpackers and accommodation located in the wild and beautiful West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand.
Established for over 20 years, the lodge has grown from a small building to a well known sanctuary amongst the West Coast locals and tourists who visit each year.

Te Nikau required a logo and brand identity to reflect the surrounding environment and the friendly and welcoming accommodation services they provide.
The focus for the design was illustration based, encapsulating the elements of the coastline and the native bush. The central Nikau, a native palm tree that grows wild around the region, the rocks of Punakaiki creating a solid housing, Kereru (Wood Pigeon), a large native bird that feeds on the berries of the Nikau. Lastly, the beautiful night sky and the two well known star constellations of New Zealand; the Southern Cross and Matariki.
The brand identity was in place from 2017-2021, across the retreat, from staff t-shirts to signage.
